~ Angel Awards! ~

Deborah surprised me with my first award today!  She's such a sweetheart and I really appreciate the kindness that she is known for.  The rules of this award are:

1) Thank the person who gave it to them! Thank you Deborah!
If you haven't visited her blog, you should drop on by!  You will love it ~

2) Link it back to me!

3) Give the award to five people, although I think you are all Angels!!  There are so many
that deserve this reward and many are not accepting at this time.

4) Please let the friends know they have an award!
Here are my 5 Angels:
Ladies, you are wonderful and have been very kind to me!  If you choose to take the award, just follow the rules.  It's difficult for me to follow a lot of rules.  ;-)

~ To Do or Not TeauxDeaux ~

I think this might be very helpful for all teuxdeux lists in the new year.  Try it!  :-)  I'm all about getting organized and I've always been a list maker.

~ Under Construction ~

I am trying to redesign my blog so please bear with me. I am one of the most technically challenged people that you'll ever meet! ;-)

Hoping that you're having a restful Sunday and your Christmas was wonder*filled!  As we move toward the new year, do you make resolutions?  I find that if I do, most of mine are broken by the 2nd week.  I like to create goals  or make a Dream/Vision Board for what I'd like to bring into my life during the new year. Have you tried it?  It's an excellent visual source and easily done. Just cut out pictures, words, add photos, whatever feels right for you and place on a piece of poster board, a canvas, inside a frame. Place it in an area that is visible and use it like affirmations. Avoid having anyone speak negatively about it.  This is YOUR life and your dreams that you want to manifest!  :-)

I'll be working on mine and will share a photo when I feel it's ready.  Let me know if you decide to try it!

Along with creating dreams for the new year, I will also be organizing, clearing out and donating or tossing "stuff".  It feels right to me to replace the opened areas with positives.

~ Merry Christmas! ~

I want to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas!  May you have peace, joy and love surround you and your loved ones.  2000 years ago we were given the greatest gift of all so please honor the reason for the season and spread the love!  Take a look at this video about  Christmas blessings.

It's snowing here in Texas!  We rarely have beautiful right now.

~ Chocolate Pecan Crumb Bars ~

I want to make sure that you know that this recipe came from another blog....and I am so embarrassed...I cannot remember which blog. :-(   Just wanted to say that these bars are very easy to make and are delish!   If you have a few minutes & the ingredients, go for it!  I'm having some ladies over tomorrow evening for drinks and appetizers and I thought this would be something different for them to try.  Easy to make and easy clean up too!

If you know the origin of the recipe, by all means please let me know so that I may credit the talented blogger.

Chocolate Pecan Crumb Bars

1 c. butter (no substitutes)

2 c. flour

1/2 c. sugar

2 c. chocolate chips, reserve 1/2 c.

1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk

1 tsp. vanilla

1 c. chopped pecans

Beat butter until creamy. Add flour and sugar, beat until crumbly. Press 2 c. (reserve the rest) crumb mixture onto the bottom of a 9×13 inch pan.

Bake at 350° for 10-15 minutes (until edges are golden).

In a small saucepan, warm (on low) 1 1/2 c. chocolate chips and condensed milk until chips are melted. Stir in vanilla and spread over hot crust.

Stir pecans and remaining chocolate chips into the rest of the crumb mixture. Sprinkle over chocolate filling. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.

** These are very rich. I highly recommend cutting them in very small bars.

~ How is everyone doing? ~

We're on the countdown now aren't we? I haven't accomplished all the things I wanted to do nor I have completed all of my craft ideas. I keep thinking that "yes, it will all get done" and that the most important thing to remember is this is a season of remembering Christ's birth and being with family and friends.  Keep that in mind,
 ok? :-)

Be careful with your online shopping too. I discovered an unauthorized withdrawal from my checking account yesterday while reviewing my bank statement on line. It was almost $80 and scared me to death!  I spent most of the afternoon dealing with the Credit Union, the police dept...spent an hour there between waiting and discussing the situation with an officer.  My debit card was immediately cancelled and, after leaving the police dept, I thought..."How am I going to function?"  It will be 7-10 days before the new one is received...and here we are in the midst of the holidays.  :-(  My Credit Union is cashless so they referred me to another that could issue cash so off I went to find that office, stand in line once again, etc., etc.  I was able to obtain cash there so I feel better about that.  You know, it seems to cash checks at grocery stores or other places now, you have to have cashed 7 checks in 7 days or some cock-eyed rule.  :-)  I use my debit card all the time.  Anyway, just keep an eye on your finances, ok?  I have been so busy I hadn't checked my account in a few days and look what happened!

I hope that you're taking good care of yourselves and taking a few moments now and again to relish the season!

xoxo ~ Pat

~ Hot Buttered Rum Cheesecake ~

This is a dessert that you must try!  Can serve a number of people as it is so rich ~

1 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted

5 packages (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
1/3 cup whipping cream
2 tablespoons rum
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3 eggs
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/3 cup whipping cream
1/4 cup rum
1/4 cup golden raisins, if desired - I'm not really a raisin person so I use pecans, a lot of them, roughly chopped  :-)

1. Heat oven to 350°F. In small bowl, mix crust ingredients. Press firmly in bottom of ungreased 9-inch springform pan. Bake 10 minutes. Cool completely. Reduce oven temperature to 325°F.

2. While crust is cooling, in large bowl, beat all filling ingredients except eggs with electric mixer on medium speed about 1 minute or until smooth. On low speed, beat in eggs until well blended. Pour over crust; smooth top.

3. Bake 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 25 minutes or until edge is set and center is still soft. Turn off oven; leave oven door open about 4 inches. Leave cheesecake in oven 30 minutes. Remove from oven; cool in pan on cooling rack away from drafts 30 minutes.

4. Without releasing or removing side of pan, run metal spatula carefully along side of cheesecake to loosen. Refrigerate uncovered about 3 hours or until chilled. Cover; continue refrigerating at least 9 hours but no longer than 48 hours.

5. In 1 1/2-quart saucepan, mix sauce ingredients. Heat to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil 3 to 4 minutes, stirring constantly, until slightly thickened.

6. To serve, run metal spatula along side of cheesecake to loosen again; remove side of pan. Slice into serving size of your choice. Serve with warm sauce. Store cheesecake and sauce covered in refrigerator.

~ I Love Santa but........ ~

With just over a week before Christmas REMEMBER:

Jesus is Better than Santa
Santa lives at the North Pole.
JESUS is everywhere.
Santa rides in a sleigh
JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.
Santa comes but once a year
JESUS is an ever present help.
Santa fills your stockings with goodies
JESUS supplies all your needs.
Santa comes down your chimney uninvited
JESUS stands at your door and knocks.. and then enters your heart.
You have to stand in line to see Santa
JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.
Santa lets you sit on his lap
JESUS lets you rest in His arms.
Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi little boy or girl, What's your name?"
JESUS knew our name before we did. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.
Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly
JESUS has a heart full of love.
All Santa can offer is HO HO HO
JESUS offers health, help and hope.
Santa says "You better not cry"
JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you.
Santa's little helpers make toys
JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.
Santa may make you chuckle but

JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.
While Santa puts gifts under your tree
JESUS became our gift and died on the tree.
It's obvious there is really no comparison.
We need to remember WHO Christmas is all about.
We need to put Christ back in Christmas.
Jesus is still the reason for the season.

May the Lord Bless and Watch over you and your loved ones this Christmas 2009
And may He prosper and bless the work of your hands in the New Year.

~ An incredible volunteer project! ~

I just recently found a blog by Tidy Mom and I love it!  She's a wife, mom, blogger, she cooks, etc.  Anyway, she and her daughter & friends recently baked 260 cookies!  Can you imagine?  You must check out her blog and read about this wonderful volunteer effort with Drop In and Decorate.  The first batch of cookies were decorated and donated to A.L.I.V.E. (domestic abuse support). The next batch will be for The Agape Food Pantry.

Beautiful cookies, beautiful people and a beautiful project!

~ Third Graders Sing for The Troops! ~

I have a special place in my heart for our military personnel...veterans and active duty. A third grade teacher from Tussing Elementary wrote this song, Thank You Soldiers  and the children sing it.  You just have to watch and listen!  :-)

~ Something beautiful from Kristens Creations ~

If you haven't visited Kristens Creations you are totally missing out!  These are pictures of my new frame that she made...gorgeous, right?  I haven't decided exactly where I'm going to display it...just moved it around to take the pictures so I could show you.  She has a tutorial on tree toppers on her blog right now ~ great "how to" for those of us...really ME...who might be challenged in that area.  Stop by and take a look!

Today has been better as far as the vertigo and I am so grateful!  We had some HUGE snowflakes early this morning but, as usual in Texas, didn't last long. Certainly has been cold though.  I want to thank each of you that left such sweet messages for me ~ truly appreciated!

~ It's My Birthday! ~

I really wanted to have a party and invite each of you but, unfortunately, I'm still a bit dizzy.  Well, dizzier than normal ~ ;-)  I hope that you're having a beautiful day!  It's cold and rainy here in this part of Texas but it's warm and joyful inside.
