~ Wednesday Gratitude ~

I've missed joining Heidi for Wednesday Gratitude.  I'm glad I'm home this week and remembered to join in!  Stop by her beautiful blog and participate....or just visit those that have joined in.
“You simply will not be the same person two months from now after consciously giving thanks each day for the abundance that exists in your life. And you will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have and are grateful for, the more will be given you.”
~ Sarah Ban Breathnach

Years ago when Sarah appeared often on the Oprah show, she had just written the book "Simple Abundance". I LOVE the book and I always enjoyed her sharing on the show. She has such a kind countenance and a very loving presence.  I cannot tell you how many times I've read the book...or just read certain passages.  She suggested keeping a Gratitude Journal and listing a minimum of 5 things each day that you were grateful for. When I began my Gratitude journal I was still working and had very long and stressful days. Sarah's words would remind me to be grateful...and some nights I just listed the minium...my bed, the fact that I made it through the day, I had a safe commute to & from work, etc.  As I practiced, my lists grew longer and my life changed.  :-)  I promise that happens!
I just found this website and wanted to share it with you just in case you were unaware. Crystal over at Good List Daily has a wonderful site and lots of ways to participate. She's an incredible host and I highly recommend that you check it out!
We all have so much to appreciate and it really helps me to stop, think, write it down and offer a prayer of thanksgiving.  I hope you might find it encouraging too!

  1. I did this for a while after first seeing it on Oprah and then I quit writing things down. Sometimes I still think them before bed...I should get back in the habit.

  2. Hi Pat,
Welcome back, so happy you're here today!
I love Sarah's books! I went through a phase where I read and re-read them, mentioned them to all my friends, etc. They helped me through a tough spot, and I think about re-reading them now.
Gratitude helps me get the perspective right, most of the time anyway. It's so easy to get bogged down in the negative and focus on all the things we don't have. I'd rather appreciate what I DO have! And there is so much to be grateful for.
    Thanks for this post,
    Heidi - Heart and Home

  3. Pat, thanks so much for stopping by the Porch and your comments! What a small world this is....my Dad's family is from Brownfield and I spent a great deal of time there as a child. I am excited to find your blog....can't wait to prowl through your archive of posts! I, too, keep Simple Abundance right by my bed and read passages in the evenings. And the Gratitude Journal....a truly worthwhile project. Hope to hear from you again soon!

  4. Hello Pat!
I'm glad you are back sweet friend. It sounds like you had a nice week of doggie sitting.

This book sounds wonderful. I will order a copy on Amazon today. I'm feeling very blessed and grateful these days for sure. Thank you for telling us about it.

    Happy fall blessings to you!
    ~Melissa :)

It makes my Heart happy to hear from you! Thank you so much for taking the time to say hello. I want to respond to each comment, however, if you are a "no reply blogger" I can't. Would love to have an email address to contact you!
