~ Projects for Me! ~

I know some of you are extremely talented at redoing, not at all. I have been perusing blogs and trying to glean all the info I can before beginning these redo's. This is a buffet that I got at an antique store. It is basically a good piece...strong bones but needs attention. I will either paint it black or red ~ that I haven't decided yet. Forgive the "decor" ~ but it's the real thing right now. I have odds & ends sitting on the top, including all the magazines I haven't had time to read. :-)

A close up of the design on the 2 drawers.

Forgive the photography!

Poor pitiful top.  This is really the worst damage on the entire piece.

This is a table I found at a consignment store ~ $12 I think. It's in pretty good shape too. Not sure what the color will be but I'm leaning toward black.

This is the top of the table...kinda worn.
I'm excited at the prospect of redoing these pieces! I also welcome any and all suggestions as to the "how".  Don't be shy...just give me the low-down, ok? :-)

  1. I am not good at re doing, my kids are though. Looks like you have found some real good pieces! Good luck :D

  2. You will do fantastic. It really is easy. First sand lightly, prime, and then paint. That easy, and if you want to add glaze, lightly glaze it. If the furniture has holes or dents you can just repair with some wood calk too. Have fun!

  3. nice to see your before pics. good luck cant wait to see them done

  4. I have only painted two pieces of furniture in my whole life. I was so worried about how they would turn out that I missed a lot of the fun. Next time I will enjoy the process.

They are beautiful pieces, Pat, and I think they will look good in black.

  5. Your furniture is awesome, Pat! I can't wait to see how they turn out. I have been wracking up furniture projects over here that I hope to tackle this year. I don't know anything about it either. I've been thinking black for my furniture. Yours would look great in that color as well! I hope you have had a great weekend. hugs, Candace

  6. I've painted so many pieces of furniture like these, I've lost count. If you have time, you can see some of them going back through my blog.
Good luck and have fun painting!

  7. The pieces you got have some good bones. I love the appliques on the buffet. They will look fantastic when you get them finished! I can't wait to see the pictures!

  8. You are going to have so much for transforming that furniture. I inherited furniture from my husband's grandmother that I totally redid. You can check it out at this link I give some ideas as to how to do it. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and for your kind comments. I really appreciate it.

  9. I think that black would be perfect! But you do it whatever color that you think will look the best. I will say that black shows dust a lot.

    Stay warm. Don't overdo it.

  10. I am voting for black too! I have done a few pieces. I agree, lightly sand then prime and it really works well to use a sponge brush, you don't get the brush marks. It can be addictive, especially if you can find nice pieces. My friend has bought the stuff to have me help her do her kitchen cabinets. Hope it goes well. She wanted them done before the holidays (ha ha ha!!!) Not!!

  11. what a find on the buffet, that will look great redone in black or red. Have fun redoing the furniture!

  12. Ooooooooooooooooooooooooo! You GO GURL!!! I know you can do it! I cant wait to see this take shape! And dont worry bout the pic quality! We ALL have that Problemo, RIGHT? 13. Oh Pat that will be pretty in black or red. How lovely! :)
