~ It's The Little Things ~

I'm feeling more and more that I just want this holiday season to be peaceful, happy, warm, fun and enjoyed.  I see so many people rushing from here to there, spending tons of money looking as though they are about to explode...and not from happiness, from stress.  I want it to be more about the reason for the season and enjoying family and dear friends.

I want to enjoy a Christmas program at church, see little children's eyes light up with the sight of a tree and all the lights.

There's so much joy with little ones around!  My grands are teens now. :-)  Where did the time go? Love them dearly and it's different now but it's still the best to be in their presence.

I want to take time to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea or a glass of wine with friends.

I want to take the time to bake cookies and other goodies and share with others. Something homemade means the world to me and I'll bet it does to your friends and family too.

If you're having guests, schedule some time to really be with them. The dishes and laundry can wait an one will even notice.

Keep Christ in Christmas!

Make it fun and really special for the little ones!  You will have such joy being with them.

I love having all the lights off in my living area, beautiful Christmas music playing, candles lit, something to drink and just sitting and enjoying the tree and the twinkle lights. I can watch the sappy Christmas movies every year, regardless of how many times I've seen them. I love to leave anonymous cards on neighbors doors, wishing them a Merry Christmas. It's so much fun to pay for the person behind you in a drive-thru. Be extra nice to those working in retail ~ not an easy job. Those are some of the little things I love!

Make it a season of love, joy, peace and happiness!

Many of the photos were found on Pinterest, some I already had.

  1. Amen, Pat! What a perfectly wonderful, and timely, post. I'm with you- we all need to slow down. We are not going all out this year either- too much happening and we have all we want right here- Healthy families. xo Diana

  2. Very beautiful and meaningful post. Have a great weekend!

  3. Just wonderful Pat, I couldn't agree more!

  4. Wonderful message, Pat!
Have a great evening....I'm gonna go sit and look at the lights on the tree, I love that too.

  5. Cheers to that Pat. I am keeping that in perspective. I have not stressed out shopping, and I certainly have not gone out and wasted a bunch of money, no money to waste! Thanks for sharing.

  6. Pat, sounds like a good recipe to follow to have a wonderful holiday season. I hope yours is joyful! Laura

  7. Hi Pat,

This is a wonderful and special post.
Beautiful message to all of us!

  8. Hi Pat...
Stopped by to say you can drop in anytime for cake and then I bumped into this beautiful post. I feel the same way...haven't bought anything yet for Christmas as far as gifts. Just want to enjoy the reason for the season I suppose. Thank you for this amazing post. By the way...I love the photo of the little boy in front of the Christmas tree.

  9. Great advice and I totally agree with you. Enjoy the holiday season and savor every moment! :)

  10. Great ideas Pat. It's definitely a little off kilter here, with Christmas and we have been trying to sell two houses. But I normally do all of my shopping before Thanksgiving to avoid that shopping stress, and I stopped doing Christmas cards. You just can't do everything. Thanks for entering my Annie Sloan Giveaway!!

  11. Hi Pat...loved your post..that is what we all need to be doing to truly enJOY this Christmas! Thanks for pointing out my error with the 3 little ones, you are a friend. :D

  12. What wonderful wishes, Pat. I would add a mani-pedi to your list. I've actually been enjoying myself too much and have got to kick into high gear! It is a fun time of the year. Work on your list for me and have a merry, merry, Christmas!

  13. Hi Pat, thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm already a follower of yours. I found you awhile ago & remembered that you live not too far from me. I live in Frisco. I loved your special message in your post. I love the lights off, too, with just the tree lights on. Maybe one day we'll get together!!!

  15. I'm with you! We have had to hustle a bit since we leave in a few days, but I'm done with everything but the cards and I may or may not send them this year. I baked more than I have since the kids left home (of course I'm eating too much) and do plan to share with neighbors and friends. I'm really enjoying the new electric fireplace, it makes it feel more like Christmas at my house. People really do seem grouchy and stressed everywhere I go...I figure there is time for that after Christmas when we are snowed in!
