~ Ramblings ~

Did you choose a word for the year?
I did...I actually chose two ~  Love and Celebrate.  I want to show more love to others and to myself. I think if we continue to come from a place of love there can be many positive changes in our lives, in our communities and hopefully, in the world.

I just know that in the days when I was growing up (yes, it actually was A.D., not B.C.) ;-)  it was a kinder, gentler time.  Our kids are really not exposed to that...the freedom of being outside alone for extended periods of time with no concerns for the nut cases out there and being able to ride bikes or play with friends until twilight when everyone had to go home.

Perhaps if we start a "LOVE" and Kindness Revolution in our own homes, neighborhoods and communities, it will catch on!  And don't forget to show love to yourself ~ rest, take naps, read a good book, get a mani/pedi, have coffee with a friend, go to a movie or the library, forget the blogs and FB for awhile and just "be".

I also want to "celebrate" life every day!  Honestly, we have so much to be grateful for, let's share. I want to entertain more and celebrate the family and friends in my life. I want to be more aware of nature and all the beauty surrounding us. I want to be more "aware" of people around me or already in my life. I want to meet new friends and celebrate the fact that our paths crossed as we both walk the planet at the same time.

Last Saturday, the 18 year old son of a friend and former co-worker was found dead. He another young boy were apparently involved in drugs at the home of a 22 yr old young man.  Chase and Kyle both passed out. The 22 yr old just drug them into a bedroom and left them. The dad found them the next morning and called 911.  Officials seem to think that if the 22 yr old had called for help, the boys would have lived.  We don't know the intricate details of the situation and we don't need to.  The fact is, these incredible young men are gone and Chase's funeral is today.  It's heartbreaking and senseless.  Chase is survived by his parents, his twin sister and 2 older brothers.  A very close and loving family who are now depending on God and their faith to see them through. Oh yes, in addition to this tragedy, my friend/the mom, was to begin chemo and radiation this past week.  :(

Another precious reason to spread the love and celebrate every moment we have ~

  1. sad and tragic. A young life gone too soon. Your are so right, we all need to appreciate each other and to love and celebrate life.

  2. What a sad thing to happen to someone just starting out their life - and I can't even imagine the heartache the family will have to live with forever.
Love and Celebrate are perfect words Pat - and should always walk hand in hand
    Big hugs,

  3. What a tragedy! Love and celebrate are awesome words to live by this year. Your friend can truly use your love during this difficult time. Many thoughts and prayers to your friend and her family.

  4. This is a thought provoking post...we all have so much to be grateful for!
I am so sorrow for this family...and for you and all who cared for him.

    Love and celebrate. Good words.

  5. I'm so sorry this family has to go through all of this. When one life ends, it can destroy many others. We do need to celebrate the good moments with those we love...things can change suddenly in this unsure world we live in.

  6. Pat- I think we need to grab life by the horns and hold on for all it is worth. That is so sad that those two young men lost their lives so needlessly. God bless their parents as they go through the upcoming years.

Nice to see you here and your blog looks great- xo Diana

  7. So heartbreaking! Your words sure are good ones to thing about and strive for this new year.

  8. What a tragedy, Pat! I'm so sorry. I think love and celebrate wonderful words for this year and every year going forward. I haven't chosen words for the year; but those are two that I hope show up in my life in abundance. Much love and hugs and prayers!

  9. Hey Pat,Life is just toooo dawg-gone short, then this happens,my heart is sad.Prayers for the families.

  10. I like your choice of words for this year, dear Pat. We all need to show and experience more love and to celebrate life. I am so sad for your friend...what a sad loss and such heartache for the family.

  11. Oh Gosh Pat, that just breaks my heart in two. Love and celebrate are the perfect words for New year, so true so true. XO

  12. My heart breaks for Chase's parents. How tragic for everyone involved. I loved your post and pinned your quotes.

  13. Yes, we don't have to look very far to see others with heavier burdens. I appreciate your sharing this heartbreaking story. It's such a reminder for me to count my blessings. I'll be praying for this family. How very sad.

  14. Such a tragedy...I'm not sure how you get over something like this and go on. Seems impossible to me. I think your words are perfect!

  15. I always feel so old when I say that things "used to be different" but they did! We could play outside, go out after dark, go to the mall without looking for the exits (well, there wasn't a mall when I grew up). I'm sure there must have been crazy people when I was a child but it was nothing like today. It is sad and frightening...

It makes my Heart happy to hear from you! Thank you so much for taking the time to say hello. I want to respond to each comment, however, if you are a "no reply blogger" I can't. Would love to have an email address to contact you!
