~ I did the wrong thing! ~

This is the way I feel right now!  No diy's, crafts, cooking, whatever to share.  :)

Lots of stressful things have been going on lately but the full moon is over for now so I have my fingers crossed for smooth sailing again.  I got out Saturday morning to have coffee & breakfast with a friend. After I left, I stopped at Walmart for a few paper products.  I know, I know...not a good thing to do on a Saturday. Anyway, the Carter Blood Center bus was parked at the front of the store and I thought, "I used to give blood all the time.  I should do that now."  Wrong!

I did give though. Toward the end, I was getting light headed so they pumped me even more full of water, Powerade, crackers, etc.  In a bit I was feeling fine. The technician asked me to be seated up front for about 15 min, just to ensure all was well.  Of course, by this time I had to go to the know, coffee, tons of water & Powerade.  I absolutely HATE going in a restroom in Walmart or other public places. They insisted one of the nurses accompany me. I hated walking through the store with a nurse beside me, after all, aren't I Wonder Woman?

It's really a good thing though. I piled tons of paper on the toilet so I could weak I was afraid to try and stand. Well, it was like someone flipped a light switch and I almost passed out.  I couldn't do anything, much less answer the nurse who kept asking me if I was ok.  NO!  I'm not!  I was finally able to grab the bar and get myself up and slowly to the other side to another bar. Then I opened the door. She asked if I could walk back out to the bus...NO!  She sat me down on the floor ~ can you even imagine?  I was so out of it though I couldn't even process what was going on. A kind lady came in and asked if help was needed so the nurse asked her to go out to the bus and get someone.  Another nurse came in and they put ice all over me, kept trying to get me up, etc.  They said if I couldn't, they would need to call an ambulance. I certainly did not want that!  They were able to get me to stand and walked me out to the bus.  They turned the A/C on full on me, packed me with ice all over and again, forced the water & Powerade.  I cannot even tell you how sick I felt. They called the Blood Center Dr and he said if I couldn't get stable to call the ambulance. In hindsight, I should have allowed them to do that but you know that old saying, hindsight is 20/20.

I was finally coming around and they called my daughter & son-in-law. They advised I could not be left alone. Went to their house and continued the drinking...not the fun stuff either!  ;-)  My daughter gave me a tablespoon of peanut butter and I really started to improve.  Long story a bit shorter, I came home after several hours and went to bed.  The Blood Care Emergency team called that evening to see how things were going and gave me a phone # to call anytime, day/night/weekend. They told me that after what had happened, it was imperative that I stay hydrated and that it would take 3-4 days, maybe longer, to feel good again. Well, this is the 6th day and I'm almost human.  I have never had an experience like this in all the years I've given blood.  Needless to say, I won't be doing it again ~ EVER!

I have an appointment with my Dr early tomorrow morning. Just want to ensure all is well.  IF you have read all of this, bless you!  I have not been on the computer or doing anything worthwhile. I have several new projects to do and can't wait to start!

~ Mardi Gras and King Cake ~

I made an "easy" version of the well known King Cake. I did see the recipe somewhere online so if a blogger has posted it,  please let me know so I can give credit.

It's not the King Cake known in Louisiana but it's simple to do and that's what caught my eye!

2 pkgs Jumbo Cinnamon Rolls ~ 5 in a pkg in the dairy case

Line a bundt pan with one package of the rolls and then layer the 2nd package over the first. Set the packet of icing aside.  Bake at 350' for about 25- 30 min, depending on your oven.  Remove the pan and allow to cool for about 10 min. Remove from pan onto a cooling rack until it's somewhat cool.

You can make the icing while the rolls are baking.  I  used 4 oz. cream cheese & about a cup or so of powdered sugar.  Beat the cream cheese until smooth and then add the powdered sugar and the packet of icing from the cinnamon roll package. Drizzle over the cake and decorate with the royal purple, green and gold of Mardi Gras.  Easy, peasy!   I made one for the grands and another for the office management team as well as the maintenance guys here.  Good to have with a cup of coffee or cup of tea.

~ A Cup of Joe for a Joe...or a Jane ~

 Green Beans Coffee
Green Beans Coffee

I love to support the troops in any way I can. They sacrifice so much for all of us.

Sending a cup of coffee is so simple. They can also choose an iced drink, hot cocoa or tea. This is a note I received today...Southlake is just a hop and a skip from where I live. Small world, huh?  ;-)

Your message and gift of a CUP OF JOE was delivered to a Service Member serving at Bagram South in Afghanistan. They wanted to say thanks and make sure you knew your gift was received. Please see below for their note to you:

Thank you so much Pat!! My family lives in Southlake Texas and all my extended relatives live all over the state:-) A treat from home! I really appreciate your kindness. It's a treat for us to get a cup of joe.

Check out the site Green Beans Coffee  and give if  you can!

The weather here is very warm...and humid!  While walking Forrester this morning, I noticed that the trees all have buds on them.  Hey, we're still in February!  Crazy Texas weather, that's for sure.

I had the temporary plugs put in my tear ducts on Monday. They are already helping so much! The method is amazing. I go back in 2 weeks for the permanent (6 months) plugs if all goes well with these.  I know it will!

Had breakfast with a friend this morning. Several of us meet each Wed morning, however, today it was just the 2 of us. Very enjoyable anyway!

In the process of updating this blog...we shall see how the final result is soon. I hope you're having a wonderful week!
