~ On Seeing the Good in Good Friday ~

For so many years I wondered why Good Friday was named as such. I couldn’t really wrap my brain around what was so good about it. I felt terrible every single time I would see a Cross re-enactment play. I would make it so real in my mind, and it was so hard to watch. I would sob seeing Jesus go through what he went through. I kept asking myself: Why were we calling the death of Jesus “good”?

Growing up I attended various Good Friday church services where the mood was so very solemn. Sad, mournful and full of regret, I would walk with my head down to my seat in the pew. And I get that sentiment, I really do. I understand the sacrifice was because of (my) sin. I’ve been taught all the horrible things Jesus had to endure before his death.
But I don’t hang my head anymore. Now I know why Good Friday is so very, very good.

From the beginning of time, God knew what was going to happen. He prepared a way. He poured himself into flesh as the solution for all of it. We know all this already, right?
But what I think is sometimes missing from the Good Friday services, is that one simple phrase:
When Jesus became the atonement, it was all done. All that was yet left undone, became done. His death was the trigger, the catalyst, for these cataclysmic events to come. The resurrection, pentecost, the Lord’s return. Once that death happened, everything else was done in God’s eyes. It began our call to Kingdom and to looking forward.
He wanted us to look ahead to his resurrection. He wanted us to look ahead to his return. He made it all complete, and there was no need to feel incomplete ever again.
Death no longer has victory over our souls, because it is finished.

Sin no longer is what we are painted with when God looks at us, because it is finished.

I don’t have to walk in shame or feel anything but a daughter of the Most High God, because it is finished.

You who walk in the shadows, come forth, because it is finished. The Enemy may try to influence me and you, to sway us, but he can never win. Never.
I don’t feel sad on Good Friday anymore. I humbly receive the Lord’s gift with gratitude, stand looking high in awe and wonder. At the deep meaning of his death being so innocent, so holy and so pure that it covered every human ever.
Even me. Especially me. Especially you.
He is risen!

~ Focus ~

I woke up in the wee hours of the morning and had the wonderful opportunity to see the installation Mass of Pope Francis. I thought it was beautiful!  I'm not Catholic but I believe he is an incredible man and so very humble. We've all heard that he has lived in a small apt, cooked his own meals, rode the bus and now in an open vehicle ~ not the Pope Mobile all closed in.  I think he's going to bring a new spiritual awakening to all Catholics and to the world.

What I cannot believe is that the news media focuses on the fact that he wears black shoes!  So what?  It just blows my mind that his shoes would be a focus rather than the man.

While standing in line at the check out yesterday, I saw that, once again, the rag mags exploit anyone they can. It seems there is a new TV series entitled "Splash" where celebrities dive from incredible heights. Kim Kardashian is gaining a lot of weight with her pregnancy. This one is high, another is getting a divorce and another bought or sold a jillion dollar home. Who cares?  How will these subjects affect my life? They won't!

I don't watch the news anymore except to try and catch the weather at times. Too much sensationalism and negativity and I don't want or need that in my space.

Why don't we focus on the good stuff?  What a wonderful person Pope Francis is, how beautiful our spring weather is/will be, people that are doing good things, our friends and family, laughter and love, gratitude for all we have, our health and abilities to cook, bake, garden, hug, decorate, walk, run, eat too much, nap, buy ourselves flowers, perform a random act of kindness, check on an elderly person, share a meal, take a plate of cookies to could add to the list I know!

I'm a firm believer in what we think about, we bring about.  Perhaps if each of us chooses to focus on the good stuff, we can change our little corners of the world ~ wanna try?

P.S. The woman and the kid (upstairs) returned late Saturday night. Immediately, my body tensed. I am
really working on being positive about this situation!

~ Spring? ~

Our forecast for this week!  We have bright sunshine today after a few storms Saturday night and an overcast day yesterday.

I know so many of you are decorating for St. Pat's, Easter, Spring, etc.  That inspiration hasn't hit me yet! :)  I am loving some bright and happy colors right now though. A fuchsia pink (unheard of for me), beautiful buttery yellow, lime green and a grape color. This happened to me last year, however, I didn't do anything about it but add a couple of touches of yellow & lime green.  Oh, I almost forgot...I did spray paint an outside table grape. My mind is churning with ideas though ~

Some of you are aware that I moved here in a rush in Nov, 2010 after being assaulted at the place I was living. Things are discouraging here now. There is a couple that live upstairs with their 11-12 yr old son. They are very disrespectful regarding noise and being considerate of others. Also, the son is one that runs and jumps!  Horrendous noise ~  :(   When they have company, there are other kids similar in age and size and they're all wild.  I've left them notes, gone up there and asked for quiet. I cannot tell you how many times I've called the office, emailed them or gone over there. The previous manager stated 3 complaints and they're out. Sadly, she's gone and the current manager, A, does nothing except turn it over to the Assistant Manager. A did advise me that they are working with them to move them to a lower level for the same price. (The woman wants to move, the man does not. Oh, and they've had another child!) I told A it was ridiculous that anyone had to move due to them NOT disciplining the son. The weekends are horrid!  For the past 2 weeks, they've awakened me from midnight to 1:00 a.m. ~ IF I'm already asleep. I told the Manager and the next level that I have surpassed my tolerance and requested a change in my lease.

Lord knows, I hate the idea of moving but this is miserable!  I do have a beautiful view with lots of trees but it isn't compensating for the noise and all the leaks I've had here.  If you're so inclined, I'd appreciate your good thoughts and prayers for me to find the "perfect" place!

For those of you that upholster furniture, I'd love some hints and suggestions ~ tutorials or help! ;-)  I'm thinking I'd like to change my red love seat to a neutral color. I have NO idea where to even begin. It's in great shape and I know I wouldn't get much for it if I tried to sell it.  We all want bargains, don't we?

~ Think Before You Donate ~

I'm not sure if you've seen this or not. Amazing info about some organizations and the salaries!  I donate to two Hispanic ladies that clean for my kids.  They've become like family to me.  They are SO appreciative it almost brings me to tears at times. Really brings back awareness too at how blessed we are!

~ An Update & Texas Independence Day ~

            (Current Flag)

The first Texas flag to feature a lone star, created by Sarah Dodson during the Revolution. Stephen Austin hated it, but it still flew over Washington on the Brazos as the declaration was signed.
      (Original Flag)

I'm sure you've all heard the old saying that everything's bigger and better in Texas!  It's true ~ :) Texans are proud, friendly, spunky and extremely loyal...just a few adjectives to describe us.  I will try to find a list I have of Texas stats and share with you later.

I saw my Dr yesterday and he did another chemistry panel.  Should have the results Mon or Tues. He thinks I'm very low on red cells plus have the beginning of an ear/sinus infection.  Wants me to eat more iron rich foods, including red meat.  I haven't eaten red meat in eons...and it's very hard for me to do so.  I've always feared the antibiotics & chemicals injected into the animals plus the horrendous treatment they seem to incur.  Anyway, I did have a medium rare steak yesterday and it was delish, although it took all my reserve to eat it.  No problem for spinach, greens, etc.  Gave me an RX for the nausea which is very much appreciated!  He said he could give me an RX for iron but it would increase the nausea.  Just said to take a good multi-vitamin with iron and use the sub lingual B-12.  It does help!  Force more fluids also so I spend a great deal of time in the bathroom. :)

Enough of all that but wanted to thank each of you for your sweet notes!  Hope you have a wonderful weekend ~
