~ Spring? ~

Our forecast for this week!  We have bright sunshine today after a few storms Saturday night and an overcast day yesterday.

I know so many of you are decorating for St. Pat's, Easter, Spring, etc.  That inspiration hasn't hit me yet! :)  I am loving some bright and happy colors right now though. A fuchsia pink (unheard of for me), beautiful buttery yellow, lime green and a grape color. This happened to me last year, however, I didn't do anything about it but add a couple of touches of yellow & lime green.  Oh, I almost forgot...I did spray paint an outside table grape. My mind is churning with ideas though ~

Some of you are aware that I moved here in a rush in Nov, 2010 after being assaulted at the place I was living. Things are discouraging here now. There is a couple that live upstairs with their 11-12 yr old son. They are very disrespectful regarding noise and being considerate of others. Also, the son is one that runs and jumps!  Horrendous noise ~  :(   When they have company, there are other kids similar in age and size and they're all wild.  I've left them notes, gone up there and asked for quiet. I cannot tell you how many times I've called the office, emailed them or gone over there. The previous manager stated 3 complaints and they're out. Sadly, she's gone and the current manager, A, does nothing except turn it over to the Assistant Manager. A did advise me that they are working with them to move them to a lower level for the same price. (The woman wants to move, the man does not. Oh, and they've had another child!) I told A it was ridiculous that anyone had to move due to them NOT disciplining the son. The weekends are horrid!  For the past 2 weeks, they've awakened me from midnight to 1:00 a.m. ~ IF I'm already asleep. I told the Manager and the next level that I have surpassed my tolerance and requested a change in my lease.

Lord knows, I hate the idea of moving but this is miserable!  I do have a beautiful view with lots of trees but it isn't compensating for the noise and all the leaks I've had here.  If you're so inclined, I'd appreciate your good thoughts and prayers for me to find the "perfect" place!

For those of you that upholster furniture, I'd love some hints and suggestions ~ tutorials or help! ;-)  I'm thinking I'd like to change my red love seat to a neutral color. I have NO idea where to even begin. It's in great shape and I know I wouldn't get much for it if I tried to sell it.  We all want bargains, don't we?

  1. That's terrible, Pat. You shouldn't have to move, they should have to move! They are just rude! I hope this situation works itself out, but if not, I do hope you find the perfect place.

Looking on the bright side, enjoy your Spring weather...you lucky girl!

  2. How horrible Pat!! Sounds like the management at that place needs some disipline too! They should be the one's to moving and inconvienced, but if this situation would get you a nicer/better location place, then take advantage of it. Loving your weather outlook, man I wish I was there!! I ran around in the rain all day!! have a great week. Good luck with the monster people!

  3. That is so horrible, Pat. I am really sorry that you have to deal with this on any level. Poor managers can make or break a building. Sounds like you have a poor manager. I will pray that things settle down for you one way or the other.

Have you looked at SureFit slipcovers? They are really a good deal and fit nicely. A whole lot easier than upholstering. xo Diana

  5. I'm so sorry Pat! There's seems to be more and more rude, inconsiderate people in this world.

I hope you find someplace that you will truly love.

I agree with Nana Diana...sure fit slipcovers are great!

  6. I feel for you, Pat, no one should have to live like that. I am going to be praying for relief and/or a new place. A wise woman told me that when people are upsetting you because of their rudeness or whatever, pray for them for about two weeks. I know nothing about reupholstering furniture, but there are gals in Blogland that sure do. Hope they can help you out. xo

  7. Ick, what horrible neighbors! Too bad management doesn't have some cojones to take care of it.

I just found your blog and look forward to snooping around it (you had me at Soldier's Angels - lots of military in my family, one nephew deploying to Afg again in a couple of weeks).

As far as upholstery goes, lots of bloggers have great tutorials on it - this one is one of my favorites (she hasn't posted in a long time, but thankfully kept the blog) Great pictures of the process and fabulous inspiration - http://charishumin.blogspot.com/2010/03/reupholstery-101-day-1-deployment.html

    Good luck with everything!

  8. Oh Pat, how awful to have to put up with all that!!! I shall pray for you that you find the perfect spot. Everyone needs their own peace. As for your love seat, I had an aunt that actually painted her upholster on her love seat. Maybe you could google - how to paint upholstery??

  10. Pat, I'm so sorry you have such a awful neighbor. I will definitely be sending you my positive prayers and energy directed at choosing the right path. I know you hate to move, but peace of mind (and good sleep) are so important. please keep us posted.
Also, have you thought about slipcovers? Ikea has some cheap ones and I think I saw some at JC Penney. Good luck with that.

  11. I am so sorry you are having this trouble. I've had that in hotels for just a few nights and it has driven me crazy, I can't imagine if it was every day. Saying a little prayer that you find the perfect place...good neighbors (a friend or two maybe) and a beautiful location at an amazing price!
