~ Merry Christmas from Texas! ~

This is a most difficult Christmas. I'm trying to keep it together to honor Abby as well as remembering the real reason for this season. We are so blessed to be able to celebrate our Savior's birth. I hope that you and your loved ones enjoy each moment!

  1. Oh Pat...I wish I was in Texas! It's probably much warmer there than here where we live. My brother and his wife have a small part-time home in Charlotte Texas.
It's good to see you posting again!

  2. Hang in there. I'll be thinking of you and your family.

  3. Pat, I completely understand. When Abby died, I was tied up with my MIL's death and my SIL's impending death. We also lost our young godson (in his twenties) back earlier this year). He was an only child, and his parents are devastated as well. This has been the year for it. I know so many people who have lost loved ones, but Abby was SO young and she was your granddaughter. My heart aches for you.

We are not going to be involved in the type of hubbub we normally do at Christmas after my accident, but we have to press on because we have several young godchildren. To be honest, I would like to stay in bed and not do a thing. That is so unlike me because Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. Still, there are times that we need to step back and have a quieter reflection. I imagine for you, the shock of losing Abby is still so fresh. I will be really thinking of you on Christmas as well as my BIL who lost his wife and his mother within three months of each other. He is going to New England to be with his son and his son's fiancee. The change will do him good.

I do not believe that God did this. He came that we might have life and life abundant. I think it is the devil who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. It is so hard to wrap your mind around something so senseless, but God is there for you. And I will be praying. Abby is in the Savior's arms, and she will be spending her first Christmas with Jesus. There is a great big crop of newcomers, and I would like to think that your loved ones and mine are there, looking out for her and celebrating Jesus' birthday together.

    Love to you, precious lady...

  4. My heart is with you this Christmas, dear Pat. May you enjoy Christmas the best you can, dear friend. Love and prayers are with you.

  5. I can only imagine how difficult this will be for you and your family. I truly hope that you all remember that she would want you to celebrate the day as you have in the past and that she is there, your very own Christmas angel. Thinking of you.

  6. Thinking of you and your family and keeping you in my prayers. We always assume Christmas is a happy time for everyone but it is not. Praying that the Lord will bring you comfort in unexpected ways. hugs to you.

  10. The holidays are both a blessing and a curse. So many people are suffering when everyone is thinking of all the wonderful parts of Christmas.

My thoughts are with you and I wish you a 2014 full of beauty, love, family, many ups and few downs.

    Happy New Year

  11. Hi Pat, I know you miss Abby.
    Your new look is wonderful.
I'm sorry I didn't have the strength to create you a new look.
Hang in there. We have our memories for our lost loved ones. Try to have a happy new year. hugs, Linda

  12. Hello my friend, I've just been catching up on your blog because I haven't been on the computer much lately. Right after Christmas I got sick and I'm just now feeling better (but I'm still coughing while I write this :) And first of all, I love your new design, Pat it's so fresh and happy looking! I think the timing was perfect too. And I'm so sorry I missed your birthday, don't know how that happened, but I was smiling while I read how much fun your daughter and you had together. Shopping can be such a great time with the right person. On a more serious note, I can only imagine how tough it's been this entire Christmas season without your sweet Abby. Oh my goodness. What a loss. I'm just so sorry for your pain, and I know that words don't do much Pat..but in my heart I believe that Abby is still with you all, smiling and wrapping you in her love from a place so amazing we cannot begin to fathom. I pray that You, your son and his wife and everyone in your family finds peace and healing in 2014. I KNOW that next year will be full of blessings for you, I just feel it. And I personally look forward to reading all your warm and wise posts. I consider you such a special person, and I'm so grateful we found each other in blog-land.
    Happy New Year Pat!
