~ Abby's Angels ~

Abigail Madison Key
July 8, 1997 ~ June 21, 2013
(I'm not sure about the blur under her eyes...must be something on the original photo.)

Most of you are aware that my beautiful granddaughter, Abby, was fatally injured in a freak auto accident last June. I've been through a lot of challenges in my life, however, this has been the worst thus far. I sorta checked out for months and getting through Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas was extremely difficult. Abby loved Christmas so much and her excitement was contagious. We did everything differently, began new traditions and, by God's grace, we made it through.

One thing we elected to do was to perform RAOK's ~ Random Acts of Kindness ~ and encouraged others to do the same. This was a way to honor her and have some fun for a change. I had cards made with the above photo and this on the back:

The card was Christmas themed because of her love for Christmas.  We passed out the cards to friends and loved ones and a lot of people joined in. I hope we brought fun surprises and happiness to all those affected.

That is what I would like to invite you to do for this month of Love. The month is filled with hearts, flowers, candy and acts of LOVE.  It doesn't cost a thing if money is a can place notes or Valentines on neighbor's doors, car windows, desks, kid's lunches, etc.  If you'd like to pay it forward you could pay for the person behind you at Starbucks or any drive through. Buy flowers at the grocery store and share...give someone their favorite magazine or book, bake cookies or a pie and give to a neighbor, take a meal to someone that is ill or just had a baby, offer to pick up meds for someone that has difficulty getting out, drop by a nursing home and greet the patients, smile at everyone, give sincere can think of a jillion things I know.

In doing this, you'll become one of Abby's Angels! She would be so excited. I really feel that she already knows and loves it. :)

I'd like to thank you in advance should you choose to participate.

I'd also love to know your experiences and how you felt about it.

  12. It would be such an honor to be one of Abby's Angel's Pat.........
Such a gorgeous beauty - and look at what her love has accomplished - what a beautiful idea!
    I'll keep you posted :)

  13. Oh How I love the new tradition you shared and started. Abby was such a beautiful light and you will continue to shine that for her every day. XO

  14. Pat...first of all, I am so sorry for your loss. Abby was beautiful and so very special. She had the same birthday as my Mom, July 8. She is right between Tate and Phoebes Ages and I cannot imagine a world without them. You have been very brave and this is just such a beautiful way you have found to honor her memory. I would be honored to be one of Abby's Angels.

  15. Pat, you've got to get a book - it's a true story - called "MY GLIMPSE OF ETERNITY" by BETTY MALZ. I saw that you are a reader and you will love this story. I recommend it to people all of the time. My mother buys multiple used copies to give to people and everyone flips over this story. It reads like a novel but it's all true.

P.S. Another book I think you will really like is "Those Who Trust in the Lord Will not be Disappointed" by Peggy Joyce Ruth. She's a fellow Texan and her books are fabulous!! If you need encouraging, this is like a
    B12 shot!

  16. P.S. Something distracted me when I was leaving the comment above and I failed to mention what a very beautiful and cute girl Abby was! Her personality even shines through her picture. I can only imagine how hard this has been on all of you! You are right to look to God... it may seem impossible but He can pull your family through this. Yikes, do I dare recommend a third book? Have you ever read an old classic devotional called "STREAMS IN THE DESERT?" Much of it deals with hardship and tragedy (written by many authors back in time) and it's uncanny how you can just open the book at random and it will be JUST what you needed to read. I can't tell you how many times I have been comforted by this book! Also, be sure to read the preface... the history of how the book came about is very interesting.

All the best to you! Hope my recommendations help some!

It makes my Heart happy to hear from you! Thank you so much for taking the time to say hello. I want to respond to each comment, however, if you are a "no reply blogger" I can't. Would love to have an email address to contact you!
