~ Thursday Thoughts and Thank You! ~

Feels like forever since I've been here. I want to thank each of you that sent good wishes and prayers my way!  It's been a challenge to move forward with the vertigo. I'm much better but sometimes I forget and bend over to pick up something and bam!  That's my reminder. :)

I really dislike sharing negativity but hey, there's so much "stuff" going on and I'm just sick and tired of it!  I don't know how you feel about the Bruce/Caitlyn thing but let's move on! He's not the first one to do this, nor will he/she be the last. The plan to honor him/her with the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage blows my mind! What about our military personnel and the first responders that put their lives on the line daily? IMHO, that is Courage!

This and the Kardashian clan are just beyond anything I'd like to hear from the news media. However, the Duggar family and the situation with their kids is just the worst!!  I don't understand why no charges have been filed. I also don't understand why nothing is mentioned about help for the girls. That is heartbreaking to me!  I don't think they helped themselves with the interview with Megyn Kelly.

Perhaps I should be taking this RX??

I love Meryl Streep and I appreciate this quote from her.  So very true! A dear friend that I've known since elementary school passed away Tuesday evening. Besides the parents, there were 2 brothers ~ one my first love!  :) and they're all gone now. She had one son and, although he's an adult, I feel so bad for him.

I'm not sure if you've seen this article or not ~ I think it's very interesting. It isn't stating that this is a cure, however there seems to be some merit to having figs in one's diet.

New Compounds in Figs Kills Breast Cancer Cells: Researchers have just discovered nine new compounds in figs which are toxic to breast cancer cells, killing over 50% of them at concentrations that, in one case, approached the potency of the chemo drug cis-platinum. Although these new compounds are in very early stage research, we already know that figs are a potent anti-cancer fruit. Figs deliver the highest concentrations of cancer-fighting polyphenols (2100 mg of polyphenols per 100 grams fruit) of any known fruit except dates. And this isn’t just theoretical: one recent study on healthy people showed that eating 40 grams of figs actually doubled their bloods’ antioxidant capacity within one hour! As for cancer prevention, fig extracts have proven toxic to melanoma, stomach, throat, bone, brain and liver cancers in lab studies. And in one new fascinating population study out of Jordan, where people eat figs regularly, one serving of this super-fruit daily was shown to reduce colon cancer risk by a stunning 49%. Figs are delicious fresh or dried (but the fresh fruit delivers about twice the polyphenols) and make a great snack any time of day. And for those who are feeling stressed, figs might be the perfect natural cure: a recent study on mice found that fig extracts decreased anxiety and had a mild muscle-relaxant effect.

Texas is slowly drying out. It has been quite an experience...one I've not had before and I'm a native. We did need the drought to end but oh my, so much loss and devastation. Breaks your heart to see what some families have experienced. Having sunshine now is fabulous!

It's been 4 weeks since I've had a Pepsi ~ amazing!  I drink the full leaded, never the diet. Aspartame is a trigger for migraines and really is a form of poison. I've had cravings but haven't given in. :)

I hope to visit each of you very soon ~ I've missed you and have wondered what everyone is doing. I promise the next post will not be negative!

  1. I'm glad you're feeling better, Pat, and I loved reading your thoughts today. I so agree with you!
Thanks for the information on figs...how very interesting!
My son is going in today for his "trial" spinal implant procedure. I'm praying that all goes well and that he will go back in a few days for the actual implant.
    Take care, my friend!

  2. YES, the totally weird stuff, in the news!!!! YIkes!!!!!!

In my humble opinion, anything to do with the K. Klan is ^**&%##&** and should be treated as such. And totally ignored. If no one paid any attention to their (*$^*&^##, they would stop being money-makers and fade away.

Also, IMHO, any people "famous-for-breeding", are also to be ignored. This latest news, is just the icing on the cake.

    You posted. I commented.

Just glad that your health is improved!!!!!!!

  5. Hi Pat, It good to be feeling better isn't it. I need some of that medicine. LOL. So funny. I hate that you had so much rain. Floods scare me more than any weather related thing. Good for you giving up soda. My daughter hates that I drink diet pop. Blessings to you for a great weekend, xoxo,Susie
