~ Happy Heart Month! ~

To be very honest, I'm glad January is gone. It's a bit of a let down after all the holidays and most days are bleak and grey outside. We've really not had a difficult winter thus far...amazingly no ice storms...yet!  :)  Seems one day it's in the 70's and then the temps drop to the 20's & 30's.  Typical Texas I guess!

I've had a few computer glitches so haven't been able to visit much at all or post. Hopefully, things are ok now.

What are your thoughts and feelings about Valentine's Day?  It feels like a "contrived"  Hallmark holiday in so many respects. I do think it's a fun time for kids and teens. It can also be a time to do something special for your loved ones and friends.  That's the part I enjoy! Do you remember all the excitement about who gets what from your classmates in school?  Everyone had a special place to collect Valentines and you always hoped you received a lot of them, especially one from that cute guy! I collect hearts (no, not literally!) LOL  so it's a great time to decorate in a way that is pleasing to you. Elaborate or soft and romantic...what's your preference?

I have 2 pieces of furniture that I hope to get painted this week!  Wish me luck, ok?  I hope you have a most enjoyable week!  Take some for "you" ~ that's a great way to show love to yourself.

  1. I'm not big on Valentine's Day but I do a little bit because of the grandchildren! February is not a favorite month either!
I am about to gear up and finish wallpapering my dining room and doing the painting in there! At least our weather has been nice and I'm sitting with the French doors open behind me! Before I know it spring will be here and Mayflies will be all over the place!!

  4. Oh I love Valentine's Day, Pat, and it's a favorite holiday of mine. Yes, wasn't that a fun time in school growing up getting the special cards from our friends? As far as decorating, I like romantic décor, but I do like to add a little whimsical to every holiday too. I can't wait to see what you're painting. Wish you luck on that. :)

  5. I do add touches of Valentine decor around my house, Pat. I love cupids, Angels and hearts, and of course red is my favorite color. Valentine parties in school were so much fun!
I look forward to seeing what you're goi g to paint. I have some things I'd like to do, but I just don't seem to get around to doing them. I need some motivation!

  6. I loved Valentine's Day as a kid... making the perfect sack to hang along the chalkboard and being so excited to open it up. Do they even do such things in school these days???
I'll bake and do a small touch of decor somewhere- probably in the kitchen.
Good luck with your painting and please don't throw out your back! xoxo, T.

  7. Hi Pat, I too love Valentine's Day but only add a few pretty decor accents here and there around my home. I always enjoyed trading Valentine's in school as we would make special mail boxes for our desk to collect our cards.
I enjoy to make cards and exchange them to this day. Other then that, I don't go overboard for the holiday.
Can't wait to see what you are working on painting. Have fun and enjoy the process.
Have a great rest of the week. xo
