My precious boy had to have surgery this morning to remove a tumor from the top of his head. I took him in Tuesday after I tried to clean this place that had changed in size and looked horrible after I cleaned it. They shaved the area and treated it along with meds given for infection that was beginning and for pain. He's a rescue and I really don't know his true age...around 15 - 16 years we think. I adopted him in 2005 and he has been the absolute "perfect" dog! :) I pick him up after 2 p.m. today so it will be interesting to see how he reacts once he's fully "with it" again. We didn't have a pathology report done. The vet didn't recommend it due to his age and I would never put him through chemo, radiation or any other harsh drugs/chemicals. I want him to feel good as long as possible!

Did you hear about the North Texas teacher that eliminated homework? Kudos to her!!! I always felt so bad for my grands when they were in school. Both were brilliant and taking AP classes in high school. With sports and other activities, they would be up all hours trying to complete their assignments. Elementary school is even appalling to me! Kids need to be kids as long as possible!! They have the rest of their lives to go to college, work and become adults with responsibilities. Click here: Homework

Speaking of school, teachers, etc., Paige at The Pink Clutch blog, just shared a beautiful and love filled post regarding her son with special needs. I know it was a difficult path for them, however, he is doing extremely well now! There are so many professionals along with incredibly dedicated teachers that work with children with special needs and they deserve all the praise and appreciation possible! I spent a period of time with a former 12 year old step-daughter that had ADHD, severe emotional trauma connected to her mother and a few other issues. I learned more in that time than I thought possible. I thought I'd lose my mind at imes but she rallied, grew and made so many positive changes! Due to not having prior experience, it was a real education for me. The doctors, specialists and teachers were a life saver and I could not appreciate them more!

Perhaps I shouldn't mention it here but hey, it's my blog right? :) Please make sure you're registered to vote and then DO IT! IMHO, we as a country are in a sad state of affairs right now and I'm afraid it might get a bit scarier. I personally don't agree with the POTUS and these politicians and I so wish we could clear out ALL of Washington and begin again. IF we could find representatives that wanted to improve the U.S. and not be focused on money and power, it would be wonderful! I think a LOT of prayer is needed to return God to our land.

I am so looking forward to fall and cooler temps! I haven't done any fall decorating yet but I'm working on clearing out (again!) and rearranging. Since I'm in a small space I don't decorate with a lot of things...it makes me feel claustrophobic after a short time! :) Well, I need to wrap this up and get ready to run a few errands prior to picking up my boy. I hope the rest of your week is full of joy, love and many blessings!

Yes, this is what's on my mind! We've had temps in the 80's all week with a bit of rain. Of course, the humidity is yucky but still, it's better than those triple digits we had! I know that we'll have the heat return before things settle in for fall but I'm certainly excited for September and then October, my favorite!, to arrive. I always feel energized when the temps are cooler. I look forward to crisp, early mornings to walk comfortably, jeans and funky socks, the smells of fragrant candles, cinnamon, apples and baking pumpkin everything! I'm checking out what little fall decor I have left after moving and donating so much. Since I'm in a smaller space, it doesn't take much to add a touch of fall.

Are these not perfect for Thanksgiving? Of course, one could use them anytime.
Yes, they have it all ~ including dish towels! Take a look!

I think you know I'm a sucker for nail polish, lip color, eye shadow, etc. I saw this OPI collection yesterday while I was out and about. There are some beautiful, yet unusual, colors in this group. Seems that shades of green are "in" this year...take a look!
A suggestion ~ take a look at this website for color comparisons and great info!

Is this not gorgeous? I don't know the owner of the shop, Free My Gypsy Soul, but I'm in love with this throw! I so wish I could knit ~
Thanks to each of you for stopping by! I so appreciate all the kind words, good thoughts and prayers. I'm doing better since the injections, however, I do have an appointment with a Neurosurgeon next Wednesday. I really want to find out what other options I might have for long term relief.
Have a blessed weekend!!

I apologize that I haven't been posting or visiting much lately. I've been in such pain with my back plus the nausea associated with it and just haven't had much of anything to share. I had the injections again last Wed and so far, so good! I'm not sure what's next. I asked my primary care Dr for a referral to another orthopedic Dr for one more opinion. I'm certainly not an advocate for surgery, however, I tend to think that one big hurt might be better than what I've been experiencing!
Texas has brutal summer heat and we're in the midst of it now. I try to do my errands in the mornings and have just been staying inside during the afternoons. Now that I'm feeling better, I hope to get some things accomplished. I'm counting down the days to September and October! :) Fall is my favorite season...I always feel so energized!
Just sharing a couple of funnies here...
Sounds good, huh? :) Seriously, this triple digit stuff is not welcome and it can leave any minute as far as I'm concerned!
Thanks so much for stopping by!! I always appreciate your visits and especially comments. Everyone is so busy and it's great when someone stops by! I hope you have a blessed week and find a cool place to hang out! Stay hydrated ~
